Previous carafe problems corrected with new design, September 8, 2010 By Ziminy13 (St Petersburg, FL United States) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Blendtec 40-609-BHMV 2-Quart Blender Jar (Kitchen) If you are like me, you've had to buy one carafe after another at this outrageous price. The previous version had a rubber type connection for the blade and it wore out very quickly. The new version has a hardened plastic type of connection. It is not wearing out at all. No black dripping mess, no slivers of rubber, no melting rubber smell.
Why the price for these is so exorbitant is beyond me. Its probably 50 cents worth of plastic with a 2.00 blade fixture. If I'd known the replacements were so expensive I would not have purchased the blender.

Now I hope that at least it last for longer time because I consider it is a very expensive attachment.
